Methods of Container loading and unloading
Unloading of the containers is the placement of the appropriate containers on a ship, chassis, wagon or other means of transport of your goods. There are various methods of cost-effective loading/unloading of the containers when the ship arrives at the port. Cranes
One of the methods loading/unloading the smaller containers is by using the container cranes. Cranes, of course, does not need any introduction, as it is the method used for decades. It comes in a wide range of designs and lifts capacities. These cranes pick up the containers from the cargo ship or to place it on the vehicles. You may click here to contact us for the mobile crane service or install an overhead crane for your containers to lift off the chassis.
The mobile cranes and crane services are widely used for placing the containers on the deck. The drawback of using the crane service is that it could be super expensive if you have a regular stream of containers coming from your site or if you are working away from the urban centre. Moreover, the delay and waiting period for a crane sitting idle for the container loading operation would also affect the pricing adversely.
For better cost-effective unloading of the goods, instead of hiring crane service, check for the site container handling equipment which well works considering. From heavy forklifts to stackers, top loaders, and mini-straddle carriers, there are plenty of machines that you can choose from to have the work done for you. All of these types of equipment is used to lift containers on and off the chassis. It can also be used to effectively move and stack the containers. The equipment ensures the quick container movement and trained workers are efficient to operate the equipment.
Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
AGVs can be used to transport containers. The AGVs moves without any driver’s participation, instead, it is run by the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) through mobile applications. When the containers reach the ship port, the AGV moves the containers to the pre-selected stack, where the goods can be stored for a limited time. Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC) is used to set up the containers in the stacks automatically and is considered to be more cost effective method of loading or unloading of goods than the mobile cranes.
Stacking is a systematic procedure of placing the containers on the pre-defined stacks to facilitate the process of subsequent reloading of the goods easier.
When the AGV reaches the sensor line, ASC pulls the container and places it in a specified line of the stack. For further transportation from the seaport, the ASC can be used to pick up and AGV transports the goods to the barges, trucks or trains.
C-lifts
Vertical containers lift or the C-lifts, commonly known as the container lifting jacks can be used to handle the equipment to be put on the ground for loading and stripping. The C-lift can be used to position the containers in different areas such as a confined space or indoor, but cannot be used to stack or move the containers. The dock can be directly replaced by automated fixed C-lifts. It helps to extend the capacity of the site or warehouse in creating new points of entry for goods.
