Our family runs a fairly decent sized financial planning company. We have about fifty employees all together. Every year for thanksgiving we band together to make homemade pies for each of our employees and their familes, which is no easy feat. They are all wonderful people who work very hard and it’s a small way to show them that they are appreciated.
We make three different kinds of pies: apple, pumpkin and pecan. The traditional Thanksgiving trifecta. We send around a sign-up sheet for everyone to choose what kind they want. When we get that back, that’s when we really get to work.
Between our family, we own 3 Cuisinart food processors. This year, before we got started, I went onto the KitchenWorksUSA website to order some replacement parts for each.They sell authentic Cuisinart DLC-7 parts which is great because you know they won’t break after one use. It’s such a huge help with this project. I purchased replacement blades and dough blades too.
We’ve been using these every year for our annual pie making for the last four years. It really works to make just about every part of the pie. We start with the pie crusts in the Cuisinart food processor. They are all the same, so we have one basic recipe that we stick with.
Next we work on the fillings. The Cuisinart food processor does it all. We cut up the apples in it for the apple pie. We puree the pumpkin as well. We don’t use canned pumpkin, we go for the real thing, which is only possible because of this tool. We chop the pecans in the food processor as well. We’ve received better feedback from that than when we just put the whole pecan in.
Since using the Cuisinart food processors, we can typically churn out these pies in one weekend if we have all hands on deck, which is what typically happens. The best part is that because the process is easier, we don’t have to sacrifice quality over quantity, which used to happen before we were using our Cuisinart food processors. Of course, we always bake extras for our own family to have as well.
Overall, it’s a really great experience for everyone. It’s a fantastic way for our family to bond over something other than our shared business. With the ease of the Cuisinart food processor, there’s hardly any arguing whatsoever.
The best part though, is the distribution of the pies. That there is really priceless. Even though the employees receive the pies every year, they are still so appreciative of all of our efforts, and it really shows in their faces. It makes everything we do completely worth it, and it’s all possible because of the Cuisinart food processor.
